It is great to read a book that is pages followed by another pages of notes, references and index, instead of the more typical book that rambles on for pages and doesn’t say much of anything.

Louann Brizendine walks her readers through the science behind the male brain in hopes that she helps her audience understand the male brain “as the fine-tuned and complex instrument that it actually is,” as she writes in her book.
But they are just that, trends, and in some cases the effect size is actually quite weak. Food aid stolen as Yemen starves. The main thesis of the book is that women ‘s behavior is different from that of men due, in large measure, to hormonal differences.
Lots going on today, so I feel my brain cannot recall all of the good information in this book.
That meant that large areas of science and medicine used the male as the “default” model for understanding human biology and behavior, and only in the past few years has that really begun to change. A few actually are vast chasms, like the fold difference in testosterone production. Men must be strong, brave and independent.

In the male brain, it’s testosterone, vasopressin and a hormone called MIS mullerian inhibiting substance that have some of the earliest and most enduring effects. I read this book to try to better understand my dad, my husband, my largely male coworkers and to a lesser extent my son. But not this time.
