This book is simply an exapanding of Asimov’s story “The Bicentennial Man” and a great one, at that and probably my favorite work of Asimov’s since I’ve started reading him. But Andrew Martin is a pretty awesome character and it was a smart move presenting things from his viewpoint. I’m glad to say that this was not one of those.

I remember when I first started reading the Foundation series I was surprised by the simplicity of his characters especially when it came to presenting their inner thoughts. This was unbelievably awesome, and I’m not really surprised, since I haven’t read something by Asimov that I haven’t enjoyed tremendously.

My mum got it out from the library for me and Positronicc read it over and over and over again, refusing to let her take it back to the library for me. In the end, it only confirmed that flaws are what make us human and thus interesting and engaging to the other flawed humans around us.

My collection pisitronic Asimov books includes every novel I know about and most of his short stories. The story on which this novel is based was one of my favorites in all of Asimov’s robot stories. The fact that they had this book was exceptional and it was in better condition than the “good condition” stated. Yet to the Martin family, their household robot NDR is more than a mechanical servant. He seems to be part housekeeper and part babysitter and a trusted member of the family.
